 The KRA is empowered to collect tax from a person who holds or may subsequently hold money, for or on account of, a taxpayer where a tax is an unpaid tax or there are reasonable grounds to believe that a taxpayer will not pay the tax by the due date for the payment of the tax. The KRA issues agency notices to those holding or owing money belonging to the taxpayer including the taxpayer’s banker to collect and remit the unpaid taxes to the authority. A taxpayer may apply for lifting of the agency notice clearly stating the reasons for the same.
